How IELS deals with Covid-19

How IELS deals with COVID-19

Coronavirus has been affecting our organization since March 2020, it continues to impact our lives and is currently dominating our international agenda once again.
A huge amount of work is on-going, and we continue to look at avenues that may provide students, athletes and clubs with the programmes that they love.
In the meantime, we will continue to innovate and develop educational opportunities that can help students and athletes developing skills beyond the traditional forms of training and other possible future scenarios.

We have the following type of courses available

  1. Traditional In-Person Courses in COVID-secure face-to-face teaching and learning environments
  2. Online/Remote Distance Learning Courses
  3. VLE
  4. Blended Courses

In these very challenging times, we must continue to adapt and put in place enhanced measures to reduce COVID-19 transmission rates across the world, while supporting students to continue to progress with their courses, therefore our education providers remain flexible and are ready to teach students either online or in-person this academic year.

Students are able to study online until in-person learning resumes. Our advice for international students (including Erasmus+ and other exchange students) travelling from overseas for the upcoming term is to consider whether they in fact need to travel to a destination at this time, particularly if their course does not require them to be on campus yet. Those students should consider delaying if travel arrangements can be rearranged without undue costs.

Our highest priority is the health, safety and well-being of everyone.

All students motivated, ready and willing to travel must know how COVID-19 may impact their journeys.
Before making travel plans, students intending to come to the destination to study should:
  • check additional entry requirements and restrictions that have been introduced due to coronavirus (COVID-19) before travelling to the destination
  • check with their education provider in advance to confirm when face-to-face teaching begins
  • check with their education provider when they intend to arrive on campus so that they can be appropriately supported
  • inform their education provider if they have already booked travel for dates outside of their specified cohort date
We will try to be as flexible as possible with International students travelling to the destination from overseas. This is especially the case if students have already booked travel before this guidance was issued and they are unable to rearrange via their travel operator, or the cost of rearranging would be prohibitively high.

When would we cancel a course due to Covid-19

WHEN WOULD WE CANCEL A COURSE?

We hope this section helps to clarify any questions that you may have regarding the circumstances under which we would cancel a tour.
WE CANCEL COURSES IN A PARTICULAR COUNTRY
  • When suppliers are unable to provide their services
  • The Local Government, where a course is based, advises us stopping running in-person courses and other essential services
  • All flights in and out of a particular country are disrupted or cancelled
WE WILL NOT CANCEL COURSES IF:
  • One or some suppliers are closed, but the course can run unaffected
  • Some flights are cancelled but can easily be rescheduled
  • Foreign governments recommend against their citizens travelling

Our track record

OUR TRACK RECORD

HOW WE REACTED IN 2020
As soon as we realized that travelling to some destinations was unrealistic, we decided that the fairest thing to do was to reimburse everyone who had booked a tour with us in 2020.
WHAT WE OFFERED OUR GUESTS
  • A refund (when possible) Or,
  • Transfer to a 2021 tour, free of charge
WE GAVE OUR GUESTS THE CHOICE
Knowing that a refund would suit some guests while a transfer, to a future tour, would suit others— we allowed our guests to make the choice. A lot of other companies, as there was no legal obligation to do so, offered neither refunds nor transfers. Some companies only gave the option of transferring to a future tour, to us this seemed unreasonable. We know how much effort goes into booking a tour, and we understand that you choose specific dates for a reason. For many, a vacation like this is a once in a lifetime chance: dates can’t always be easily changed.
COMMUNICATION

Through our dedicated customer support team, we were able to ensure that all of our affected guests could move forward with a clear idea of where they stood. We would like to thank all of our guests for their understanding during these difficult times.

RESULTS
We made it our priority to ensure all refunds were processed as quickly as possible. Once a guest had requested a refund, the money was back in their account within two weeks. Other companies have had to issue apologies for the time incurred by their customers, in waiting for a refund. Waiting times of up to six months and beyond have been reported. Worse still, companies that did not have their finances in order, and were unable to survive through the pandemic, have left some of their customers short-changed.
